Graz–Apr. 28, 2025
I finished moving my things from the short-term rental apartment to the new apartment. I tried renting a cargo bike for the microwave, but I couldn’t successfully ride it (the bike, not the microwave). If I turned the handlebars even slightly in one direction, the bike turned all the way in that direction. And when I thought I was riding straight, the bicycle would pull to the left. I gave up on it, returned the bike to the rental place, and went to plan B (carry the microwave in its box from the apartment to the nearest streetcar stop).
After I got the microwave back to the new place, I went over to the postal station to pick up the dishware from Ikea. I knew it would be heavy, but I was resigned to doing the 12-minute walk with the package. Luckily, about a block away from the post office was a Hellweg 🇦🇹 (moral equivalent of Lowe’s or Home Depot), where I picked up this folding handcart:
I would have preferred to buy an EU-made product, but the only one they had there didn’t seem very sturdy.
At any rate, I got the dishes home:
The IKEA-name of the dish set is Färgklar. The pronunciation is such that I cannot see that name without hearing it in Worf’s voice...
