Schloßberg—The Saga Continues

Went back there again today in time for the noon bell-ringing. There are a lot of churches in the area, and the bells go for about 5 minutes. Here’s a video.

The remainder of this section has pictures from the top of Schloßberg.

According to a plaque near this statue: Karl Renner was Chancellor from 1918-1920. He supported the annexation of Austria to Germany in 1938. In 1945 he became chancellor again, ambivalent towads Stalin. Again involved in the foundation of Austria. 1945-50 Federal President. Problematic attitude towards Jews. (You don’t say...)

The time on the clock is 11:50 a.m. According to this page, originally the clock had only one hand (for the hour), so it was made as long as the radius of the clock. Later, they added a minute hand, and it was shorter, so it’s the exact opposite of modern analog clocks.

Lox

The local Billa has bagels. They’re about as good as you would expect from grocery store bagels. Good, but not fantastic. They also have—get ready for it—plant-based lox. And it’s great! They got the texture and taste just right.
