First, in case anyone asks “Do they have a 4th of July in Austria?” The answer is “Yes, we do. The calendar doesn’t skip from 3 July to 5 July.” Do we do any special celebrations on that day? No, we do not.

Continuing the topic from yesterday about the transit system: the new lines (16 and 17) on Vorbeckgasse are going to follow the purple dotted line in the following graphic (as closely as I could render it, that is.) When I looked at the current transit map, my first thought was, “I would sure hate to be the person who has to re-draw the map to make everything fit.”

After a closer look, they could probably change the labels on the 6 and 7 line west of Roseggerhaus to read 6/16 and 7/17 (since they use the same route as 6 and 7 westward from Vorbeckgasse), then use labels of 16/17 on the new section only. I think that would do the trick. It would be really difficult to add more lines since you’d be running out of colors and you simply wouldn’t have the vertical space to make it happen.
