Zagreb → Graz–Aug. 29, 2025

A video taken on the bus as it left Zagreb for Maribor.

It would seem that West Gate is a very popular name for shopping malls; there’s one in San José, California as well.

Shopping mall with triangular sign with text WEST GATE

Don’t know how I missed seeing this sculpture the last time I was in Maribor.

Sculpture of a man’s head emerging from a concrete block supported by steel rods. At the base of the rod are sculptures of people.

The train to Maribor left 16 minutes late, but it was able to make up 15 minutes, so we arrived in Graz only one minute late. Some person in the train car hadn’t bought a ticket, and the conductor caught him and wrote out some document. I think it will have been a very expensive ride for this person. (Usual fare is about 16€.)

And, back in Graz, I saw this poster for a circus. I’m sure it’s perfectly wonderful to people who are into circuses, but to me, it just seemed wrong on every possible level.

Grinning circus clown holding a platter, on which is a female contortionist, resting with her elbows on the ground and her legs pointing the same direction as her head. The clown holds a red-and-white circus tent in his other hand.
