I went to the Volkshochschule Steiermark (Steiermark adult education) for a course in soapstone carving. The first one shows the result before using some oil to bring out the highlights; the second one is after applying oil to the outer part.

The other people did some really beautiful stuff, but I did not get pictures of that.
