Today I went to the Töpfermarkt 🇦🇹 (pottery market). A few pictures along the way:

This one didn’t come out as well as I would have liked.

This really is an alley, and very grungy. But it has my name, so I took the picture.

The Pottery Market

Ceramic statue of woman with blue hair, red halter top, yellow skirt, and high red boots
Ceramic figures of people relaxing, sitting, and being happy
multi-colored plates and bowls
Salt and pepper shakers in the shape of toy cars
Figurines of people with their arms and hands on their faces.
Whimsical bird heads
Black, gray, and blue ceramics in abstract shapes.
Ceramics in shape of fish, hedgehogs, and woman reclining on a chaise longue
ceramics in shape of very large insects
Ceramics in shape of boks with curled pages.
white bowls with blue, red, green, and gray interiors
Ceramic spheres in various colors and patterns

I did make one purchase: a bowl in Asian style, with a place to rest one’s chopsticks. The person who made these is from France; he called it a «Marie Claude», after the person who suggested that he make such a bowl. I thought it was a great idea, since it’s considered rude in Japan to stick the chopsticks upright in the rice, and with the bowl, you don’t need a separate chopstick rest.

Blue bowl with fish drawn on side. Top of bowl has indentations for chopsticks to rest in.
Top view of bowl showing chopsticks.

Ceramic Art Exhibit

This was in one of the buildings at Karmeliterplatz. The first picture is the Steiermark coat of arms; it’s part of the official building and not the exhibit.

Head of a chicken, a rabbit, and a raccoon
Three barrel-shaped artworks. Two are brown with the Steiermark seal on the; one is gray with short “arms” sticking out from the side.
Seven ceramic sculptures of hands painted in various themes.
Foreground has ceramic sculpture hanging from a wire framework, background has a circle composed of stones
Orange, red, black, and green serpent with orange horns
